Hunting

Many outstanding hunting opportunities are readily available on beautiful Vancouver Island and the surrounding Gulf Islands. There are archery, shotgun, black powder and rifle seasons here. Our main game species are Roosevelt Elk, Black-tailed deer, Fallow deer, Black bear, Cougar, Wolf, and rabbit. Also a significant variety of game and migratory birds can be hunted in our area, to include Canada Geese, Brant Geese, Blue Grouse, Willow Grouse, Pigeons and not to forget the many diving and puddle ducks. License requirements vary and some hunting is only available through Limited Entry Hunting draws (LEH). If you are a non-resident of the province of BC guides are required for hunting. We do recommend to all hunters to check the current regulations for any changes, make sure you have appropriate landowner permission, where applicable.

For full details relating to Hunting Seasons, and License Requirements please contact the BC Ministry of Water, Lands and Air Protection or click here on Hunting Regulations . You can also get copies of the regulations from most major sporting goods stores.

The Victoria Fish and Game Protective Association are proud of our heritage and vigorously defend our rights to hunt and fish. It is 100% correct that as an ethical hunter, you are undoubtedly the truest of conservationists.

The VFGPA annual Game Dinner held the third Saturday of January each year is one of our most popular events of the year.
