Getting Involved
Members’ Meetings
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Members’ Meetings were held every month except for July and August. These meetings are now scheduled quarterly, and members are notified through our newsletter.
Your involvement with the club also means you can vote on decisions which relate to your experience of this great Association. We encourage everyone to come out and get to know other members, and learn more about our organization!
The Official Range Plan
The Official Range Plan is being compiled, and your suggestions are needed! This plan is intended to be a long term plan complete with annual budgets and timelines, thus guiding future Boards, and hopefully saving them from repeating previously completed research. Submit your suggestions for consideration to: vicepresident@vfgpa.org
Volunteers
Volunteers are the key to our success. Your Board of Directors is made up of volunteers, representing the BC Wildlife Federation, Hunting, Fishing, each of the shooting disciplines, and Members at Large.
It takes an amazing amount of energy to keep this club running well, so we value all of the contributions our fellow members are able to offer.
Member volunteers – and sometimes their non-member friends – take part in organized work parties to make range improvements, and/or to lend a hand (and sometimes a strong back) for setting up recreational activities and events. These take a great deal of planning and preparation. All willing workers are valuable. Your experience and expertise are needed and welcome. If you have skills and/or access to materials that would benefit the club, let us know. These are the kinds of things that have kept our membership fees so low for so many years.
Volunteering with our telephone committee is also a vitally important way to help your club – plus easier on the back, and a lesser time commitment! Through the efforts of our phone volunteers, we are able to reach members quickly and directly to share important information.
Insurance
You can download a copy of our insurance certificate here. Please note that the Insurance certificate is only valid along with a current membership in the VFGPA. Note that due to changes in Insurance coverage, the certificate DOES NOT includes coverage for ATV use. If you require recreational ATV or snowmobile coverage, our Insurance provider, Capri Insurance, can provide that for you as an add-on, and at discounted rates. We have information from Capri insurance available here.
Range Orientation
If you are a new member, or just want a one-stop page with the basics, check out the New Members page. It is full of all kinds of information to help you get started enjoying your club.
Our membership has grown substantially, and in order to experience the finest your club has to offer, it is imperative that everyone using the facilities understands how the club functions, what it has to offer and what is expected of our members.
All members, new and old, are required to attend a mandatory orientation session before you are allowed to shoot. With all of the work and improvements that have been going on, there is a lot of information you need to be aware of.
Check out the Event Calendar for the next scheduled orientation course.
