A Fishy Story

Saturday, June 18th saw the very successful annual Family Fishing Day at Frog Hollow, despite weather that threatened to turn sour! With some 30 youth out to try their hand at fishing, and collect a fish for supper, it was great to see so many kids getting into outdoor programs. Supported by the Freshwater Fisheries of BC, and with volunteers teaching kids how to catch and clean fish, the event brought out families and emphasized the “fishing” 6.52.5element of VFGPA.

For decades this event has been a mainstay of the VFGPA calendar, and our thanks go out to all volunteers, past and present, who have made this year’s event possible. The hope is to develop longtime fishers, and to promote the protection of sport fisheries, as the next article discusses!
