South Island Action Shooters Report, Aug 2024

By Cheryl Henley, South Island Action Shooters

The South Island Action Shooters have been busy over the last 3 months!

We’ve held three SIAS matches, a 3 Gun Match, hosted on Independent Shooters League match and a Level 3 IPSCBC Qualifier since mid April:

  • SIAS Match #2 April 7th- 68 competitors
  • SIAS Match #3 May 5th – 58 competitors
  • SIAS Match #4 June 23 – 67 competitors
  • ISL Match June 2nd – 47 competitors
  • IPSCBC Level 3 Qualifier – May 18 & 19 – 118 competitors
  • SIAS Match #5 July 28 – 57 competitors

We have also held 3 SIAS Range Safety Courses since mid April. This mandatory 4 hour course covers the essentials that people need to know to come out and shoot matches with us.
For those of you who missed out on owning a handgun, you can still come out and shoot with us if you own a Pistol Calibre Carbine. Exciting news! You can now register and pay for the SIAS Range Safety Course online! Follow the link on the Club Calendar to the course description page and find the registration link. Please note you MUST have completed Holster training before being allowed to take this course, unless of course you plan on shooting Pistol Calibre Carbine.

If you’re interested in learning more about our Sport consider coming up and watching part of a Match, our next one is scheduled for August 18th at the Multi Purpose Range.

Many thanks to Trevor Giles who recently donated a Lab Radar Chronograph to SIAS, complete with extra batteries and a carrying case, we will be sure to put it to good use!

Good luck to a number of our SIAS shooters who are headed to compete at IPSC Nationals in Ontario the second week of August, we know they will make us proud!
