Fire Ban and Ammunition Restriction Notice
As of 23-Sept-2021, the campfire and steel-core ammunition ban for 2021 has been lifted! Thank you for your patience!
It’s already been a very dry, hot summer, and the risk of brush and forest fires has significantly increased.
Campfires and other open fires are banned at VFGPA until further notice.
Likewise, the use of steel core bullet ammunition is also banned until further notice. The most common is surplus 7.62×39 and 7.62x54R.
If you are not certain, check your ammunition bullet with a magnet.
If you remain uncertain, do not use it.
Members who smoke in designated areas are to be especially vigilant about making sure all butts and matches are fully extinguished.
If you see or suspect that there is a fire that has developed then alert asap any of our staff. Also, alert all around you.
If the fire is small, take safe rapid measures to put it out, that you feel comfortable doing.
In the case of a small fire, it may surprise many what can be accomplished with a wool blanket or even 2-foot cardboard backers, used to smother and beat down flames.
Make yourself aware of where the fire extinguishers are located on the range that you are using.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and diligence.
